Multiple Myeloma Care
Diagnostic evaluation for abnormal plasma cells, serum protein electrophoresis (SPEP), bone pain, and light chain disorders.
Clinical Diagnostic Overview
Multiple Myeloma is a condition of abnormal plasma cells in the bone marrow that produce excessive monoclonal proteins (M-spike). Common presentations include unexplained back pain, bone fractures from mild stress, elevated creatinine (kidney injury), high calcium, and anemia.
Modern oral novel agents (immunomodulators, proteasome inhibitors) have transformed myeloma into a manageable condition with prolonged remissions.
⚠️ When Specialist Hematology Consultation is Advised
Consult if you have persistent deep bone pain, unexplained kidney function changes alongside anemia, or an elevated ESR (>100 mm/hr) without apparent infection.
