When to Consult a Hematologist
Guidance on when blood report anomalies require specialist evaluation rather than general medication.
Clinical Diagnostic Overview
General physicians and dentists frequently refer patients to a hematologist when blood parameters fail to normalize. You should schedule a hematologist consultation if:
- Your hemoglobin drops without obvious bleeding or does not improve after iron supplements.
- Your platelets remain under 100,000/μL after recovering from viral fever or Dengue.
- You notice unexplained swollen glands (lymph nodes) in your neck, armpit, or groin.
- You bruise easily or have recurrent nosebleeds without nasal trauma.
- You have a family history of Thalassemia or hemophilia and plan to marry.
⚠️ When Specialist Hematology Consultation is Advised
Early diagnosis prevents complications and avoids unnecessary, costly emergency hospitalizations.
